Eusexua Transmutation

A speculative script, production design, and previzualized lighting design that adds a narrative component to the Grammy Award winning album Eusexua and Eusexua Afterglow.

This immersive design is pitched as a two week residency for music artist FKA twigs that features local DJs and artists that all culminates in her narrative performance told in III Acts; Corporeal, Transmutation, & Accretion.

The audience inhabits liminoid travertine structures that create micro communities of worshippers bowing at the feet of a terrifyingly beautiful Goddess capable of body snatching FKA Twigs, a mortal woman who yearns for something deeper. Her journey takes her through encounters with the divine until it completely transforms her as she is Transmutated into the Goddess herself, only to seek and devour a new host as she spreads the bacchanalian frenzy of Eusexua.

Told through light, puppetry, and immersive live video, this version of the Eusexua tour would move through large hangers, armories, and warehouses around the country to create the distinctive ‘found space’ feel of Electronic Dance Music culture. The industrial wasteland merged with ancient limestone structures creates a conversation around tradition, its rejection, and the future of liminoid experiences and dance music.
